Project Cornerstone is coming to Clifford!

Please consider becoming a Reader for Project Cornerstone at Clifford School! This is a new program for us but is already used at hundreds of schools and community partnerships in the Bay Area, empowering young people and the adults around them to make good choices especially by giving them strategies to handle social-emotion situations and relationship issues. I want this program for our children and all of us too!

Readers will be parents and community members who come into our classrooms each month to read children’s literature to our students and help run a pre-designed lesson on topics such as standing up for others, being a friend, resolving conflicts and understanding feelings.

To begin as a Reader, please attend the upcoming 2-hour mandatory training:

Asset Building Champions (ABC) 101

October 3, 6-8pm 

Room 26, Clifford School

This training will be led by Lori Maitski, the ABC Program Coordinator at YMCA Santa Clara.

Kindergarten Play Date

Right before the new school year starts, join fellow incoming Kindergarten families for a play date at Clifford School. Families will get a chance to connect while students can meet new classmates, play, and enjoy snacks!

Date: Saturday, August 19, 2016

Time: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm

Location: Kindergarten playground; The playground is located at the front of the school, adjacent to the school office.

Please help spread the word and pass this along to new Kindergarten families!

Seeking volunteers for this Friday’s LEGO night! Please sign up and help make it an awesome night: tinyurl.com/LEGOclifford2017

All families are encouraged to come for a night of excitement filled with LEGO activities, contests, and prizes!

On the program:

• How many bricks in that container? The best guess wins all.

• Lego wall: change your perspective and go vertical!

• Building contest: team up with family/friends to build around a surprise theme.

• Lego racing contest: race your own creation down a track!

6-8 PM in the MUB

Children are welcome to come and read quietly in the back of the library. As always we will provide a light dinner and much socializing. Come and find out more about our wonderful school.

Acuda a nuestra junta de la PTO de abril. Hablaremos de los eventos que se aproximan, escucharemos a nuestro director hablar sobre lo que es nuevo y lo que sigue igual en nuestra escuela y más. Los niños pueden venir y leer en silencio en la parte de atrás de la biblioteca.  Como siempre, proveeremos una cena ligera y socialización. Acudan y aprendan más sobre nuestra escuela maravillosa.

The deadline to order a personalized copy of the Clifford Yearbook is April 20!
A few important facts:
* The yearbook costs $29.93.
* The deadline for a personalized (customized with two personal pages) yearbook is April 20.
* The deadline for a standard (non-customized) yearbook is May 1.

Yearbooks can also be ordered by returning the Clifford Yearbook Order Form to the PTO box in the school office with $30 cash or check made out to the Clifford PTO.

Middle School Disco Dance – Friday, April 7th!

1970s Disco Dance!

This April 7th, from 6:30 to 8:30, Middle School will host the “1970s Disco Dance”! The event will take place in the Clifford M.U.B. Please make sure that you fill out the permission slip. Tickets will go on sale from March 27th through April 7th. Shake your Groove!
