Lap-a-thon and Carnival

Friday, March 31 students and staff will participate in the Lap-a-thon to promote health, fitness and an active lifestyle. Donations will support our Physical Education (PE) programs and other PTO funded programs like technology, art in action, field trips, marine science, class supplies, and community events!

After school, from 2:40-4:40, we will be celebrating with a carnival!!! Join us right after school and bring your family to join in on the fun. Carnival tickets will be earned through participation in the Lap-A-Thon as well as raising donations. Tickets will be available to purchase during the carnival.

This year we’re seeking flat donations rather than pledges for numbers of laps run. Donations are due Friday, March 24 (a week before the event) to determine number of carnival tickets earned, in advance of the carnival. Of course we will still accept donations after the 24th, although it won’t be guaranteed that you will have your tickets in hand prior to the start of the carnival. Students are encouraged to have a lap goal and foster friendly competition with friends and classmates.

Schedule:
Lap-a- Thon, 8:30-12:30 on upper track

Carnival, 2:40-4:40 on blacktop

How to Earn Carnival Tickets

– Participate in Lap-a- Thon, earn 10 tickets for carnival

– A family member volunteers on the day, earn 10 tickets for the carnival. Email melisselong@yahoo.com to learn about opportunities.

– $25 in donations, earn 10 tickets

– $50 in donations, earn 20 tickets

– $75 or more, earn unlimited bracelet

– Middle School Students who participate and bring in $25 will have priority on the rock wall for the first 30 minutes. A pass will distributed to those that have earned it.

The event will take place on March 4th  at 5:00-7:00 pmTickets are $15 per/ mother and son couple, $5 each additional person. Read more below for details!

Purchase tickets online HERE (preferred) or write a check to CLIFFORD PTO and leave it in the metal box in the school office. Please put check in an envelope with the names of the participants and the grade(s) of the child(ren) on the front. Check are due NO LATER than Friday, March 3rd at noon.

LIMITED TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE EVENT. Food will not be served at SportsHouse, but we are reserving tables at Canyon Inn for dinner afterward. Join us!

Clifford 2nd Grade Artists Featured at Downtown Library

clifford_aia_2017Head downtown to the Redwood City Library and see the beautiful, smiling faces of our Clifford 2nd graders! Artwork will be on display in the Children’s section through mid-March.  This library Art in Action display changes monthly, so stop in regularly and check out all the fabulous art each month – 3rd grade coming soon.

¡Vaya a la biblioteca central de Redwood City y vea las caras preciosas y sonrientes de los estudiantes de segundo grado de Clifford! El arte será mostrado en la sección de los niños hasta mediados del mes de  marzo. Esta exposición de Arte en Acción cambia cada mes, así que pase por hay regularmente para poder ver todo el arte fabuloso expuesto cada mes- se acerca la exposición del tercer grado.

Join Clifford Families in celebrating the season of ART:

  • The Art of Cookie Decorating
  • Art In Action Art Show
  • Musical Arts: Singing by Elementary students
  • Musical Arts: Middle School Band Performance

Admission is Free to this Clifford Event. Small fee for Cookie Decorating. We will be selling Food at the event.

PTO Meeting, Thurs. November 10th – Library

pto_coffee_mugJoin us for the November PTO meeting. We will be discussing upcoming events, hear from our principal about what is new and ongoing at our school, and more. Children are welcome to come and read quietly in the back of the library. As always we will provide a light dinner and much socializing. Come and find out more about our wonderful school.  After the meeting we will be heading to Main & Elm in Redwood City to start off the long weekend.

Los niños pueden venir y leer en silencio en la parte de atrás de la biblioteca.  Como siempre, proveeremos una cena ligera y socialización. Acudan y aprendan más sobre nuestra escuela maravillosa. We will have food, drinks, and casino games to raise funds for Clifford School PTO at Sparky’s Hot Rod Garage in San Carlos on Friday, November 4th at 6pm.

Silent and Live auction items includes Police Ride Along (your kid gets a ride to school by police officer!), a trip to Las Vegas with $500 script, a weekend getaway to Sonoma, and many more!

Tickets are $50 in advance and $70 at the door.

Play Date for Incoming Kindergartners

Right before the new school year starts, join fellow incoming Kindergarten families for a play date at Clifford School. Families will get a chance to connect while students can meet new classmates, play, and enjoy snacks!

Location: Kindergarten playground; The playground is located at the front of the school, adjacent to the school office.

Pre-Game: Come to Kicks Sports Grill onsite and enjoy burgers, pizza, salads, hot dogs, and more prior to the event. We recommend dining an hour before the games begin. NO HOST.

Check In: 5:30-6:00 p.m.

Play: 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Check Out: Kids get a yummy treat as they head out

Moms and sons will be divided into groups based on grade level to play sports like soccer, capture the flag, kickball, basketball, and hockey. All will be guided by coaches. There will be six sports rotations and it includes a jumpy house. No sports knowledge is necessary. Just come prepared to have fun!
