Many thanks to all Clifford teachers for their energy and preparation in “readying” their classrooms for Open House. We had a packed campus last Thursday evening!
Big thanks also to Jennifer Fernandez, Art in Action coordinator, and parent volunteers, for all their work in putting together the Spring Art Show in the MUB.
We’re excited to report that two students from Clifford School were chosen as winners in a city-wide art competition.
Mikey Rim, 1st Grade student (Mrs. Keithley’s class), was awarded 1st place, and Lauren Squire, 4th Grade student (Ms. Cody’s class), took 3rd place, in their respective grade-level categories. Congratulations!
Sponsored by The Redwood City Civic Cultural Commission, judges selected these two winners from over 1,500 entries in their 23rd Annual Art Contest. This competition invited artwork from students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
The theme for this year’s contest was “Map of my City: Favorite Places and Fun Spaces.”
Both students were recognized at an awards ceremony as part of the City Council Chambers at City Hall in May.
Please come Thursday night, 5/15, for Clifford School’s Open House & Art Show!
Open House:
Kinder through 3rd Grade: 6:30-7:15PM
4th Grade through 8th Grade: 7:15-8PM
Art Show:
6:30-8PM
Our students’ Art in Action masterpieces will be on display in the MUB/gym–from Grades 1 through 5 (as a result of classes taught by parent volunteers) and Middle School (Mr. Powell’s classes).
If you’re interested in giving input on the characteristics that you would like to see in the new Clifford Principal, contact Jane Yuster at jyuster@rcsdk8.net. There’s a quick turnaround: In order for the hiring process to begin, your input is needed no later than Monday, May 12, 2014.
In addition, if you would like to be one of the two parents on the interview panel for the Principal, please contact Jammie Behrendt for more information.
You are invited to a Kinder orientation, presented by Clifford staff, in the Library on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 1PM.
The orientation will run for approximately one hour, and this gathering is for adults only. You don’t need to bring anything!
If you are not familiar with the school campus, you’ll find the Clifford Library facing a lawn area adjacent to the large multi-use building (or MUB/gym).
