Have a Fabulous Summer, Clifford Families!

See you all on the first day of school: Monday, Aug. 27. We invite all new Clifford families to join us after you drop off you kids for a Breakfast Social – an informal “meet and greet” to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your students starting the year at a new school.

You may pick up your registration packets Aug. 10-17 and MAZE Day will be Sat., Aug. 18 (Time TBD) – this is an opportunity for parents to submit all the necessary paperwork and signed forms before school starts!

We also want to extend a warm welcome to Jammie Behrendt, Clifford’s new Principal, and our new Assistant Principal will be announced soon! There will be lots of positive changes in our 2012-13 school year!

Please keep checking the website as we will post our calendar of events and other newsworthy items over the summer!

Thanks,

Christina Sullivan
2012/2013 PTO President

Please, Please Vote YES for Measure W Tomorrow!

Tomorrow (June 5) is Election Day! It’s crucial that you show up at the polls and vote YES on Measure W!

If the measure passes, the annual tax of $67 per parcel (renters are exempt) will provide local and stable funding for our schools, bringing in over $5 million to our schools over the next 5 years. These dollars can’t be taken by the State. So, every dollar would stay in our schools protecting our academic programs, retaining our quality teachers and keeping our libraries open.

Redwood City School District has become one of the lowest-funded in San Mateo County due to ongoing declines in State funding for education. We need this!

So, please remember to vote!!!

Thank You, Mr. Lind!

For 24 years, you have helped Clifford School grow
And you’ve touched more families than you’ll ever know.

You started your career teaching both 1st and 5th grade,
Where the foundation of learning you solidly laid.

As each school year passed, your experience grew,
And the new task of administration became the path for you.

As an administrator, you were key in Clifford becoming a K-8 School
And for that the middle schoolers think you are cool.

For the teachers and staff, you have been a steady leader who got the job done,
Utilizing your fairness and dry humor to bring out the best in everyone.

For us, The PTO, we appreciate your guidance and willingness to be a mentor,
And we can’t forget that everyone loved to see the thematic ties you wore!

We all understand that being a principal requires great might

Because who else in the world could:

Understand and support the teachers’ plight
Deal with children who will sometimes fight
Smile at parents who think they are right
Find and destroy microscopic insects that bite
Work all day and attend meetings at night
And do it all while the school’s money was tight.

We the families, teachers and students of Clifford School thank you for 24 years of dedication to our school and wish you the best in your new position with the district. They are lucky to have your experience and commitment. Congratulations.
